Cable-operated deep-sea devices

We offer several cable-guided deep-sea devices for a variety of tasks. An OFOS (Ocean Floor Observation System) is used to record visualizations of the seafloor over several kilometers. A live video stream is transmitted to the ship via a camera, while a high-resolution camera captures detailed images of the seabed.

To sample cold-water seeps, a video-guided rosette water sampler is used. This system allows for visual identification of the seeps and the subsequent collection of water samples using sampling bottles. For rock or sediment samples, a video-guided hydraulic grab is available. This device can recover samples weighing up to 2 tons from depths of up to 6,000 meters.

Thanks to our mobile winch system, we are also able to deploy our modern technology on older research vessels.
